  • Five-inch metal hoop
  • 2.5 yards of suede lace with three feathers and a loop to hang them from.
  • 1 skein of natural gemstone beads and 1 skein of thread (I used 4mm Amazonite beads)
  • If you want to, you can use big eye needles to thread the beads.

A note about gemstones and how to make a dreamcatcher? easy steps this DIY dreamcatcher was made with Amazonite, which is thought to help people get rid of negative feelings, anger, and stress. They also are thought to soothe and calm the mind. To keep bad dreams at bay, these properties look like they would be good places to live But you can choose any gemstone that makes you feel good. Other gemstones that can help you sleep are Amethyst or Selenite, which have soothing and calming properties that help you fall asleep.

  • Begin looping the lace around the metal hoop, leaving approximately a 6-inch tail at the top.
  • Wrap the suede lace around the metal hoop again, attempting to keep it as tight and close together as possible.
  • Once you’ve reached the end, tuck the suede lace so that no metal is visible. The tails should both be pointing upwards.
  • At the top of the hoop, tie a tight knot at the base of the tails. Tie a second knot at the tails’ ends. This is where the dreamcatcher will be hung.
  • Tie one end of the embroidery floss around the top of the dreamcatcher’s suede lace knot.
  • Bring the embroidery floss around the inside of the hoop, over the top of the hoop, and back through the embroidery floss loop you just formed. (For further information, see the photographs.)
  • Continue wrapping the hoop in this manner until you have wrapped it 12 times and are back at the top. Make sure the embroidery floss has some slack.
  • Repeat the process around the hoop, but this time wrap the embroidery floss loop around the centre of the hoop rather than the outside.
  • Continue to wrap around and around, becoming a bit tighter with each pass. At any stage throughout the procedure, add the gemstone beads. You may need to use a needle to thread your gemstone beads onto the embroidery floss, depending on the size of the hole in the gemstone beads.
  • Pull the end of the embroidery floss to tighten the web and tie with a secure knot after you’ve gone around as much as you desire.
  • Embroidery floss should be threaded through the loops at the top of the feathers. Add as many beads as you desire to each thread (or knot them firmly if your feathers don’t have loops).
  • Tie the feathers and beads equally around the bottom of the dreamcatcher loop.
